Land allocation to be transparent


The Ministry of lands says it is committed to restoring transparency and accountability in the issuing of land in the country. Lands permanent secretary MATONDO MONDE YETA says her ministry is working towards creating transparency and accountability to address issues of corruption that have haunted the ministry for a long time.

Speaking at an ZICA accountants forum Ms YETA says the ministry has introduced a customer service center to revamp the ministry and make it more accessible to the public.

Ms YETA says government has established integrity committees that will ensure transparency and accountability in land allocation.

She says her ministry will continue to collaborate with law enforcement agencies like ACC to curb corruption at the ministry.

And ZICA president CHINTU MULENDEMA says there is need for accountability and transparency in land allocation in the country.

Mr MULENDEMA says land ownership is cardinal for wealth development and should be handled in the right way.

He says it is important for accountants to get involved in land issues because concerned about issues of accountability.
