The Cartographic section is responsible for the final production of cartographically enhanced Topographic, Thematic and other specialised maps are produced by the Zambia Survey department.

National base Maps are produced at a scale of 1: 50 000 from aerial photography. Other Map series are derived from this scale.

The section has also been undertaking the task of converting hard copy Map information to digital form by way of Digitizing hard copy Maps.
