The functions of the Department are based on the regulations and procedures prescribed by Law under the Lands and Deeds Act and other status. These are:
(a) Register all rights and interest in land exceeding one (1) year;
(b) Process and issue certificates of titles where the interest granted exceeds fourteen (14) years;
(c ) Keep and maintain land and deeds records available for information to the public;
(d) Facilitate conveyance of registered land rights and other land transactions;
(e) Provide and guarantee security and protection for those with rights and interests in land;
(f) Ensure that all registration and search fees are paid;
(g) Appear in Court where matters dealing with registration are being adjudicated upon; and
(h) Act in a quasi-judicial capacity and make rulings on the applications pertaining to land registers subject to the appeal to the High Count.
