The Objectives of the Department are as follows:


q  Provide national control for mapping, cadastral and other surveys.

q  Produce and revise national topographic and large scale mapping of Zambia for sale to various clients.                                

q  Maintain standards and records of cadastral surveys for both the private and public sectors to provide cadastral services for which statutory fees and charges apply.                                                          

q Administer and provide information on national survey control and international and administrative boundaries and make available aerial photography.
